NEW YORK — No longer content to sit out baseball’s early offseason proceedings, the Mets struck three times in emphatic fashion on Friday evening, agreeing to terms with outfielders Starling Marte and Mark Canha and infielder Eduardo Escobar, according to a mix of sources and media reports.
Sources confirmed that the Mets have two-year agreements in place with Escobar for $20 million and Canha for $26.5 million with a third-year option. Marte came to terms later in the evening, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, giving the Mets three significant roster pieces in the span of less than six hours.
All three deals are pending physicals. The team has not acknowledged any of them because they are not yet official.
