The Mets’ No. 2 prospect wasted no time providing a spark for a team coming off two demoralizing losses against the Braves on back-to-back days. Brett Baty took the second pitch he saw from Jake Odorizzi on Wednesday night and sent it over the right-field fence at Truist Park for a two-run home run.
Baty was called up after a spate of injuries hit the Mets infield, with both Luis Guillorme and Eduardo Escobar going on the injured list. The 22-year-old is known for his power bat, hitting 19 home runs at Double-A this season, and he proved it to the Mets about as quickly as he possibly could.
