Aaron Judge still at 60 homers after Yankees rain-shortened win

NEW YORK — Aaron Judge’s pursuit of Roger Maris’ single-season American League home run record will continue north of the border.

Judge’s spot in the batting order was due up next, but torrential downpours and an ugly forecast for the rest of the evening forced an early conclusion to Sunday’s game, a 2-0 Yankees victory over the Red Sox in six innings at Yankee Stadium.

New York is scheduled to begin a three-game series against the Blue Jays on Monday at Rogers Centre.

Jose Trevino had a fourth-inning RBI single and Boston right fielder Rob Refsnyder dropped a sixth-inning fly ball that allowed Aaron Hicks to score from first base, comprising the scoring in the contest.

Nestor Cortes received credit for a complete game one-hit shutout. Cortes walked two and struck out five, picking up his 11th win of the season.

Judge doubled in the first inning, walked in the third inning and flew out to center field in the fifth inning. He would have led off the seventh inning, had the game resumed. Judge is homerless in his last 15 at-bats, dating back to his 60th homer on Tuesday against the Pirates.
