Amir Khan and Hamzah Sheeraz’s feud has taken a new turn. The young British boxer has called out Khan to settle their score in the ring after the former world champion slammed Sheeraz for ‘talking s*** behind his back’.
Exactly what Sheeraz said that enraged Khan so much is yet to be disclosed but the ex-Olympian has repeatedly come for the 23-year-old in recent weeks. Sheeraz had tried to cool things off by offering to shake hands and make-up but with Khan continuing his verbal assault, the undefeated prospect has challenged his rival to a fight.
“I did the interview with you and other media channels two weeks ago and I was very respectful in my approach and how I mentioned his name but obviously he’s a bit thick,” Sheeraz told iFL TV. ” He’s still being disrespectful in the last interview he did, obviously, nothing has registered in what I said about wanting to sort things out and shake hands.
He added: “He said he’s still got it, if that’s the case let’s have it, let’s fight like men. He’s being talking this s*** for so long. The only way he’s getting my respect is in the ring.”
“I’ve been there. I’ve done things on a different level. I’ve won world titles,” he added. “When you’ve got a kid who just disrespects you – whatever you do, whatever you say – talks s*** behind your back. I’m not into all that. I’m here to support all the young fighters. Every fighter, being Asian especially.
“But for an Asian fighter to talk s*** about you all the time, and I’m like ‘wait a minute, why you talking s*** about me for?’”
Khan retired from boxing after suffering a sixth-round stoppage defeat at the hands of fierce rival Kell Brook in February but has regularly spoken about returning to the ring if the fight is right. He won’t have much to gain in fighting Sheeraz who is still in the infant stages of his career but if the offer is right then there is no doubt Khan won’t at least be tempted.
