Beat the Streak is back for the 2022 season — and the $5.6 million prize is still up for grabs.
The idea is simple — pick one player (or two) every day who you think will get a hit. The objective — surpass Joe DiMaggio’s record-long 56-game hitting streak — is a bit more challenging.

Francisco Lindor, Mets (vs. Yankees)
Lindor raked against the Yankees in his first Subway Series last year, batting .381 with four homers and a 1.504 OPS in the six games. He’s raked against the Yankees in his career, batting .317 with 10 homers and a .965 OPS in 41 games. And he’s raked against Jordan Montgomery, going 5-for-9 with a homer and a double against the Yankees lefty.
José Abreu, White Sox (at Rockies)
Abreu is batting .359 with a .994 OPS over his last 62 games going back to May 16, and he’s hitting at Coors Field against Germán Márquez, who’s struggled at home this season (6.63 ERA in 10 starts with a .311 batting average and .918 OPS allowed). Abreu went 2-for-3 with a double off Márquez in their only meeting in 2017.
Austin Slater, Giants (at D-backs)
Slater is great against lefties, with a .303 batting average and .882 OPS against them this season and a .291 average and .859 OPS against them in his career. He’s facing one in the D-backs’ Tyler Gilbert, who hasn’t been very overpowering this season, with a 5.34 ERA and only 18 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings over his seven outings.
Orioles (vs. Rays — Shane McClanahan)
Just stay away from the team hitting against McClanahan at this point. His 1.71 ERA is the best in the Majors, and so is his 0.795 WHIP and 5.6 hits allowed per nine innings. He’s striking out 12 batters per nine innings, too, and has a league-leading 7.74 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
D-backs (vs. Giants — Carlos Rodón)
Rodón is too much of a strikeout threat (138 in 110 innings, 11.3 K/9) to trust a light-hitting offense like the D-backs, whose .227 team batting average is second lowest in the NL and third lowest in the Majors. Rodón’s 2.24 Fielding Independent Pitching mark is the best among NL starters.
