Bubba Wallace and Ryan Blaney shared some spirited barbs at one another on Twitter, stemming from the latter’s disqualification at Las Vegas, which was later rescinded.
First, Wallace made a joke at Blaney’s expense, tweeting, “P Illegal Shock yesterday (thumbs-up emoji),” when it was announced his friend would be disqualified. However, when it was rescinded on Monday, Wallace shared a gif from The Office, featuring the character Stanley Hudson rolling his eyes.
The rescinding of Blaney’s disqualification had huge ramifications on the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, but it also left Wallace in a bit of a bind. The 23XI Racing wheelman opened himself up for a masterful rebuttal from his good friend in Blaney.
The Penske driver reminded Wallace that he missed last season’s Homestead race due to a suspension, as Blaney was able to dunk on his friend with a masterful response.
“Just remembered you were on vacation last year during Miami, are you excited to go back?” Blaney tweeted at Wallace, reminding him of his suspension for wrecking Kyle Larson, which forced him to miss Homestead in 2022.
That wasn’t the end of it though. Wallace responded with a video clip from Homestead of Blaney spinning out, “Ah yes. Learned a lot of what NOT to do that weekend. Prepped and ready to go,” the 23XI Racing wheelman wrote.
Of course, Blaney had to remind Wallace that he was simply sitting on the couch while Blaney was racing at Homestead, as he wished his friend would learn from his prior mistakes.
“Ah yes. Good view from the couch I’m sure,” Blaney tweeted. “You learned of what NOT to do 2 weekends in a row. Look at you learning (smiley-face emoji).”
If you didn’t know these two were friends, you’d think this is the part where it got nasty. Wallace then responded by bringing up Blaney’s past history of faltering in the Playoffs, and corrected him in letting him know that he wasn’t watching from his couch.
“War room*. But yes all of what you’re saying is correct,” Wallace added. “You’re on a roll, like normal! We’re all waiting for the choke moment tho…like normal.”
Finally, Blaney got the final rebuttal on Wallace, reminding him that he choked away a chance to still be in the NASCAR Playoffs during the Round of 12.
“Hell you choked last* round. So now I’m trying to learn of what NOT to do from you,” Blaney wrote. “How crazy this world is.”
