Mets right-hander Carlos Carrasco underwent an MRI exam on Tuesday that revealed a low-grade left oblique strain, the team announced. Per the team, a typical timeline for injuries of this nature is three to four weeks, putting the veteran on track to potentially return in mid-September.
Carrasco exited his rain-delayed start in Monday’s 13-1 loss to the Braves in Atlanta after two innings with left side tightness. Carrasco had been key to the first-place Mets’ recent run of excellent starting pitching, going 5-0 with a 1.69 ERA from July 3-Aug. 9.
