Cavan Biggio was scratched from the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, as the Blue Jays said the infielder was experiencing discomfort in his right pinkie finger.
Biggio, who is expected to be Toronto’s everyday third baseman, took a ball off his finger on Monday while receiving a throw, according to the team.
There is no indication that Biggio’s finger issue is serious, but it comes on the heels of a rash of Toronto injuries. Kirby Yates is likely headed for Tommy John surgery, George Springer is dealing with a Grade 2 strain in his left oblique and Robbie Ray bruised his left elbow after falling down some stairs.
