Data Dudes analyse what Formula 1 drivers were left with the proverbial ‘wooden spoon’ by missing out on a Grand Prix podium, namely finishing out of the top three.
Victories are of course paramount on an F1 driver’s CV, the next best is podiums. Fourth place? Not really that special, ask Nico Hulkenberg, nevertheless, just who is F1’s King of Fourth?
Data Dudes explain that their recent F1 a video shows how many times a driver just missed out on the podium finish, noting that longevity in the sport plays a significant factor with ‘F1 lifers’ Rubens Barrichello, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton in the mix, remarkably though, the drivers who missed out on champagne the most on Sundays, were in fact Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel.
The biggest surprise is Gerhard Berger held the record for 23 years. Notably, the ‘number 2’ drivers or drivers in the third-best team of most given seasons dominated P4 finishes.
