Deontay Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott believes The Bronze Bomber is the ‘best’ and ‘most dynamic’ heavyweight in the world despite his back-to-back knockout losses to Tyson Fury. The 36-year-old made a successful in-ring return last weekend against Robert Helenius as he dispatched of his former sparring partner inside one round.
The heavyweight division’s most devastating puncher rendered Helenius unconscious after landing a short right hand off the backfoot with minimal wind-up. A reminder of the ruthless power that the Alabaman possess.
“He’s the most dynamic fighter in the history of the sport,” said Scott to a group of reporters. “There’s not a fighter that can do everything in the world that Deontay Wilder can do.
“The best heavyweight in the world and the most dynamic fighter in the history of the sport. If he wasn’t my brother, I would still say that. I’m telling you guys what I know from what I see, not what I think. This is the best right here, the best.”
He continued: “Andy Ruiz is a fighter of great diversity, he is a beastly puncher. But styles make fights, The Destroyer is much shorter than Wilder, it can be complicated for him.”
Providing Wilder wins his next fight he could find himself facing the winner of Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. Frank Warren recently told Express Sport that The Gypsy King is expected to face Derek Chisora, Usyk and Joe Joyce next in that order.
However, both Fury and Wilder have refused to rule out the potential of fighting each other again.
“I think that there’s definitely a chance of a fourth fight again,” Wilder told Sky Sports. “Boxing is a business. Many people call it a sport but it’s not a sport.
“The heavyweight division is very small. I’m still a big fish in the business, especially here in America. As long as we’re all in the same division and all still currently fighting, why not? It only can lead to that. With all that being said, it’s definitely a possibility.”
Meanwhile, Fury said during his launch press conference for his upcoming clash with Chisora: “Who knows get Chisora out of the way, there might be a fourth Deontay Wilder fight… Who here would not want to see me versus Wilder for a fourth time? Not very many people.”
