Port Adelaide captain Tom Jonas says he’s ecstatic to sign a contract extension that ensures he finishes his career at the AFL club.

The 30-year-old has signed a new deal tying him to Port until the end of the 2023 season.

“I’m ecstatic to extend my stay at Port Adelaide,” Jonas said in a statement on Thursday.

“The club is in a great spot and I’m thrilled that I get to be a part of it until the end of 2023.”

Jonas was initially a rookie list signing at the Power and has played 159 games since his AFL debut in 2011.

Port’s football general manager Chris Davies described Jonas as a “fearless player”.

“Tom is … a fantastic leader of our playing group and an outstanding ambassador for our club,” Davies said.

“His style sets the tone for his teammates and he continues to show that he is willing to do whatever is necessary for our club to be successful.”
