Watch this muddy multi-car accident during the opening laps of the Daytona 500.

It didn’t take long for NASCAR’s Daytona 500 to come to a screeching halt with a massive pile-up early in the race. It took only 14 laps before the crash involving 16 cars paused the race.

Typically crashes like this happen somewhere near the 200 lap range, hardly ever this close to the start of the race.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured in the wreck.

The crash sent a bunch of cars spiraling into the wet grass causing a sticky mess on the track.

The clean-up was lengthy due to the weather causing the grass to be muddy and wet so NASCAR released multiple angles of the crash for fans to see every inch of the pile-up. At press time the race had still not resumed.

The crash looks to have started when Kyle Busch (No. 18 Toyota) gave his teammate, Christopher Bell (No. 20 Toyota) a friendly nudge. Unfortunately, it might have been too rough as Bell then made contact with Aric Almirola’s (No. 10 Ford) and it went like dominos from there.
