Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. fractured his left wrist, general manager A.J. Preller said on Monday.
Preller said Tatis’ injury potentially occurred early in the offseason and flared back up when Tatis began to swing a few weeks ago. Surgery is a distinct possibility for Tatis, who will need “up to three months of recovery time,” said Preller.
Tatis, who finished third in the NL MVP race last season, led the league with 42 homers.
