Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc took to the team’s private Fiorano track to give the F1-75 a low-speed run ahead of 2022 Formula 1 season testing in Barcelona next week.
After the Maranello launch of the striking retro red Ferrari F1-75, the team today put the car through its early paces, completing 15 kilometres, as part of a demonstration run organised for Scuderia Ferrari partners.
Despite the weather, which included thick fog, the team reported that Tifosi turned out in force, keen “to watch the F1-75s first track debut. At the end of the event, Charles and Carlos walked out to the first corner to thank the team’s fans for braving the cold conditions.”
The report added: “Scuderia Ferrari’s new car took its first steps at around 10.15, once the thick fog had lifted from the course laid out in the grounds of the Fiorano track. Charles was the first to get in the car, before handing over to team-mate Carlos.
“To see the F1-75 being driven on a real race track, the world will have to wait until 22 February, when it will run during a filming day for promotional purposes at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit. As from the following day, it gets more serious with the first of the two 2022 pre-season test sessions, which ends on 25 February.”
Coincidentally, or not, the new Ferrari hit the track on the same day their arch-rivals Mercedes launched their latest Silver Arrows, the W13, for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell who also gave the new car a shakedown at Silverstone on Friday.
