Who’s Playing

Wyoming @ Nevada

Current Records: Wyoming 12-2; Nevada 8-6

What to Know

The Nevada Wolf Pack lost both of their matches to the Wyoming Cowboys last season on scores of 64-71 and 88-93, so they’re hoping to turn the tables this season. The Wolf Pack and Wyoming will face off in a Mountain West battle at 8 p.m. ET on Monday at Lawlor Events Center. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.

The Air Force Falcons typically have all the answers at home, but this past Saturday Nevada proved too difficult a challenge. Nevada walked away with a 75-68 victory. It took four tries, but they can finally say that they have a win on the road. They got double-digit scores from four players: guard Grant Sherfield (21), forward Warren Washington (12), center Will Baker (11), and guard Kenan Blackshear (11).

Meanwhile, Wyoming narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Utah State Aggies 71-69. It was another big night for Wyoming’s guard Hunter Maldonado, who had 21 points and six assists along with eight boards.

Barring any buzzer beaters, the Wolf Pack are expected to win a tight contest. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past five games, so buyers beware.

The wins brought Nevada up to 8-6 and the Cowboys to 12-2. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Nevada is 33rd worst in college basketball in points allowed per game, with 75.4 on average. Wyoming’s defense has more to brag about, as they they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 39.30%, which places them 30th in college basketball.
