Jimmie Johnson‘s 2023 racing plans aren’t set, but he has a sponsor’s support. The 46-year-old driver told Associated Press reporter Jenna Fryer that Carvana will support “whatever path” he decides to take in his motorsports career next year.
Johnson is wrapping up his first full-time IndyCar season after competing part time in the series in 2021.
The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion retired from the stock car series in 2020. Outside of IndyCar, Johnson occasionally competes in the IMSA series. His last IMSA race came at Watkins Glen International.
There are teams that could align with Johnson’s schedule if he’s interested in a one-off NASCAR race, notably Trackhouse Racing. It has a part-time car named PROJECT 91 that could be an ideal landing spot for the veteran.
