The Rockies announced on Monday that outfielder Kris Bryant has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list, where he had been recovering from a lower back strain. It was the second stint on the IL for Bryant this season, his first in Colorado.
Bryant did a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque and doubled in their game on Friday night.
“A healthy Kris Bryant is one of the best players in baseball when he’s at the top of his game,” Rockies manager Bud Black said ahead of the slugger’s return.
Monday starts a run of 17 straight games against the National League West — clearly important for a Rockies club that believed itself to be a possible contender before Bryant’s injury, but entered Monday 11 games under .500 (31-42).
In corresponding moves on Monday, Colorado also reinstated Ty Blach from the IL, placed Sean Bouchard on the 10-day IL and optioned right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner to Triple-A.
