Leclerc: Objective to show we've grown from mistakesCharles Leclerc’s objectives changed as he gears up for the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix claiming Ferrari now should show that they’ve grown from the mistakes they committed throughout the season.

After starting the season a favorite to win his first Formula 1 Title, Ferrari’s first since 2008, Charles Leclerc now concedes Max Verstappen will win his second F1 Crown in a row.

However Leclerc hopes his team could deliver clean race weekend and learn from their mistakes to try an win some of the remaining six races this season.

Leclerc, responding to a question about his objectives, told F1’s Official Website: “Just extract the maximum out of the car and show that we have grown from the mistakes we’ve done this year and just try to execute the weekends perfectly, and hopefully having a win on Sunday.”

Leclerc downplayed claims that Ferrari are set to be favorite ay Singapore saying: “I don’t know… but I hope so.

“I love this track though, it’s one of my favourites with Baku and Monaco, all street tracks. So yeah, I was missing [being] here and I’m really happy to be back here,” he added.

Carlos Sainz agrees with Leclerc

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez was one of those who tipped Ferrari for a strong showing at the Marina Bay Circuit, the Mexican saying earlier: “I do expect here for Ferrari to be very strong.

“They’ve been strong on all the street courses so I do expect them to be particularly strong around this place,” he pointed out.

Carlos Sainz was also opposing to Perez’s claims that a Ferrari win is far from guaranteed but is hoping the Scuderia’s season-long qualifying edge will be a factor on a track where grid position is important.

“If they [Red Bull] think we’re going to be competitive, imagine what we think how they’re going to be, if they’ve won the last five or six races,” the Spaniard said.

“I think we can bring the fight, especially in qualifying, and it’s a track where in the race if you’re ahead then you can stand a bigger chance of winning the race than what we did in Monza or Spa when we were starting ahead of them.

“So we’re going to give it our best shot, trying to nail the qualifying, and see what we can do in the race,” Sainz insisted.
