CHICAGO – Prior to today’s home opener vs. Seattle, the Chicago White Sox made the following four roster moves:
Giolito, 27, threw 4.0 scoreless IP with six strikeouts on Opening Day at Detroit before departing with the injury. He went 11-9 with a 3.53 ERA (70 ER/178.2 IP) and 201 strikeouts over 31 starts in 2021.
Pollock, who was acquired from the Dodgers on April 1 in exchange for right-hander Craig Kimbrel, suffered the injury on Saturday at Detroit after leading off the third inning with a single. He is 4-7 (.571) with a double, RBI and run scored in two games this season.
Lambert, 27, started for Charlotte on April 7 at Norfolk, allowing one run on one hit over 3.0 IP. He appeared in four games (three starts) with the White Sox in 2021, going 1-1 with a 6.23 ERA (9 ER/13.0 IP) and 10 strikeouts.
Severino, 27, has appeared in two games with Charlotte this season, allowing three runs on three hits with four strikeouts over 2.1 IP. He split the 2021 season between Class AA Birmingham and Charlotte, posting a 2.36 ERA (12 ER/45.2 IP) with 53 strikeouts (10.4 per 9.0 IP) and a .177 (28-158) opponents average.
Severino, a 5-foot-10, 200-pound native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was signed by the White Sox as a free agent on November 7, 2020. He has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 62.
