The Mets acquired catcher Michael Perez from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash on Saturday. The left-handed hitter, who has six home runs in 39 games with the Pirates this year, has played five seasons in the Majors between Tampa Bay (2018-20) and Pittsburgh (2021-22).
Perez has 15 home runs, 21 doubles and has collected 58 RBIs over the course of 193 career games.
Infielder Travis Blankenhorn was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
