Marvin Vettori will attempt to score his fifth straight win inside the Octagon when he faces Kevin Holland in the main event of UFC Vegas 23, which is set to go down this Sat. night (April 10, 2021) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Before then, let’s take a look back at “The Italian Dream’s” big win over Jack Hermansson at UFC Vegas 16 back in Dec. 2020. Originally, Hermansson was in line to face the aforementioned Kevin Holland before he was forced out due to COVID-19.

No fret, Vettori gladly stepped in against a man who was coming in fest off a 78-second win over Kelvin Gastelum (see it again here). In the opening round, things got off to a blistering start, with both men content with trading strikes in the center of the cage. It didn’t bode too well for Hermansson, who was dropped by Vettori halfway through the round.

After tasting Vettori’s power, Hermansson resorted to several takedown attempts, though “The Italian Dream” showed great defense, stuffing several shots or reversing position when he did end up on the mat. It was an all-out dominant showing for Vettori, who wound up taking home the unanimous decision.

Now, the hard-hitting Middleweight hopes to crack the Top 5 and penetrate the championship picture with a big win over Holland, who took the fight on short notice after Darren Till suffered a broken collarbone.
