Angels vs. Astros: Houston has reached the World Series in three of the past five years and has Justin Verlander back from Tommy John surgery, but reigning AL MVP Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon make the Halos a formidable foe in the AL West.
Yankees vs. Red Sox: Josh Donaldson and Trevor Story are two of the new faces experiencing this storied rivalry for the first time, and Yankees ace Gerrit Cole is looking for revenge after Boston roughed him up in the 2021 AL Wild Card Game.
Blue Jays vs. Rangers: After hitting 45 homers for the Blue Jays in 2021, Marcus Semien will return to Toronto as a member of the Rangers, who signed Semien, Corey Seager and Jon Gray in the offseason. The Jays still have plenty of firepower, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette and Teoscar Hernández leading the way.
Cubs vs. Brewers: After a terrific career in Japan, Seiya Suzuki will make his MLB debut as the Cubs take on a stellar Brewers pitching staff led by NL Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes.
Royals vs. Guardians: You’re going to want to tune in when MLB’s No. 1 prospect Bobby Witt Jr. makes his big league debut against Shane Bieber, José Ramírez and the Guardians.
Braves vs. Reds: As the Braves look to start off their World Series title defense on the right foot, all eyes will be on first baseman Matt Olson, who is replacing Freddie Freeman in Atlanta’s lineup.
Tigers vs. White Sox: Tim Anderson, Luis Robert and the rest of the White Sox won the AL Central title last season and appear well positioned to repeat in 2022, but the Tigers are a team on the rise. Detroit added Javier Báez, Austin Meadows and Eduardo Rodriguez and will have Spencer Torkelson (MLB’s No. 4 overall prospect) on the Opening Day roster.
Nationals vs. Mets: Max Scherzer is set to return to Washington to face Juan Soto and the Nats for the first time since the team traded him last summer.
Rockies vs. Dodgers: Kris Bryant gives the Rockies an improved offense as they look to close the gap separating them from the Dodgers, but the addition of Freeman has Los Angeles eyeing another 100-win campaign.
Twins vs. Mariners: With prospect Julio Rodríguez debuting for Seattle and Carlos Correa playing his first game with Minnesota, you won’t want to miss this.
