CHICAGO — Yu Chang’s throwing error on Nick Williams’ potential double-play grounder helped the White Sox claim a 4-3 walk-off victory over Cleveland on Monday night at Guaranteed Rate Field, ending the South Siders’ six-game losing streak in this series.
That streak included a four-game sweep by Cleveland at Progressive Field during the last week of the 2020 season, dropping the White Sox playoff seeding in the process.
With runners on first and second and one out, Chang’s throw from first to second hit baserunner Yasmani Grandal in the helmet and rolled away, allowing pinch-runner Nick Madrigal to score the game-winner.
