Star forward Ousmane Dembele has inspired France to a 2-0 victory over Kazakhstan in their second match in World Cup qualifying Group D.

Four days after being held 1-1 by Ukraine at the Stade de France, the world champions built their win in the first half with Sergiy Maliy’s own goal adding to Dembele’s opener.

Kylian Mbappe missed a penalty in the second half of the clash in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan.

France moved top of their group with four points, ahead of Bosnia, who they face away on Wednesday, Ukraine and Finland.

The France-Kazakhstan clash was the first of 15 World Cup qualifying matches in Europe on Sunday.

The match-ups to come include games between Romania and Germany, Albania and England, Denmark and Moldovo, and Bulgaria and Italy.
