The Phillies are inching closer to finalizing their Opening Day roster.

The club told right-hander Brandon Kintzler and outfielder Matt Joyce on Friday that they made the team. They also granted left-hander Tony Watson’s request to be released from his Minor League contract and optioned right-hander Spencer Howard to Triple-A. It essentially leaves right-handers Vince Velasquez, David Hale and Sam Coonrod competing for the final two spots in the eight-man bullpen, with a few other lingering questions about the bench.

The Phillies also placed outfielder Simon Muzziotti on the restricted list.
