Alonzo Menifield got back on track in the light heavyweight division earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 27, 2021) at UFC 260 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nev., when the 205-pound dynamo steamrolled Octagon newcomer Fabio Cherant via first-round submission (Von Flue choke).

It didn’t take Menifield long to push the pace and get inside along the cage. He was able to score a powerful takedown as Cherant attempted a guillotine choke. Menifield kept Cherant’s arm in position and quickly postured up. From there he was able to work his way towards the Von Flue choke and forced Cherant to tap.

Menifield was coming off back-to-back losses so this win was very important for his 2021 campaign. The 33-year-old has regained his momentum at 205 pounds and should work his way towards the top 15 this year, especially if he continues to show off his ground game to pair with his knockout power.
