Just one day after all four top seeds opened the NCAA Tournament with victories, No. 2 seeds Louisville and Maryland cruised to the next round with impressive wins. The Terrapins were one of the most dominant teams on the second day of the tournament with a 98-45 win over No. 15 seed Mount St. Mary’s.

Guard Ashley Owusu led the way for Maryland with 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and seven assists. The Terps really clamped down on the defensive end out of the gate as they held the Mountaineers to just 22 points in the first half.

Meanwhile, Louisville only had two players finish in double figures in a 74-43 victory over No. 15 seed Marist. The Cardinals held the Red Foxes to single-digit points in two of the four quarters and Marist connected on just 23.2 percent of their shots throughout the game.

Freshman guard Hailey Van Lith scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, which included knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. Louisville also received 15 points from guard Dana Evans to pace their offensive effort.

No. 1 seeds Stanford, UConn and South Carolina had previously won their games on Sunday, which marked the first day of the NCAA Women’s Tournament. Following Monday’s slate wrapping up, the second round will begin on Tuesday.
