ferrari car launch f1 2023 online maranello

Ferrari confirmed the date launch of their 2023 Formula 1 car will be on Valentine’s Day, 14 February,  expected to be at Maranello simultaneously with a live global online launch.

The new F1 car to roll out of Maranello will be presented a day later than Aston Martin, who confirmed their launch date last week.

The new car – Tipo 675 – will get a proper moniker closer to the time of the launch, will be driven by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, and will also be the first car under Fred Vasseur, the new Ferrari team principal who takes over from outgoing Mattia Binotto.

This year’s F1-75 was one of the better cars built by Ferrari in recent years, starting the 2022 season looking like a title winner, until Ferrari dropped the ball on just about all fronts, while the development of the car caused it to be less friendly to its tyres.

In other words, the Reds lost the plot on the direction to evolve the car.

Thus, from what was a car arguably at the top of the F1 pecking order at the start of the season, ahead of Red Bull and Mercedes, by mid-season they were well toppled by Red Bull RB18 and the Mercedes W13, which started the year awfully, was at least on par, if not faster by the end of the season.

The 2023 F1 season will be interesting, if concerning for the Reds, with Vasseur the new boss, disruption of Binotto’s departure, and inevitable widespread changes, all of which will come with their own turmoil and challenges.

Thus the Ferrari Tipo 675 turning out to be a very good car from day one is probably more important next season than normal years for them with a new boss in the house, couple that with a car only good for the midfield and it will be a scenario hard to countenance for long-suffering Tifosi.

Nevertheless, it’s worth taking a look back down memory lane and remembering that the 2023 Ferrari’s predecessors have won 242 Grand Prix races since their first victory at the 1950 Monaco Grand Prix while claiming 16 F1 constructors’ championships and 15 F1 drivers titles along the way.

Ferrari last won an F1 constructors’ championship in 2008 with Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen doing the business for the Scuderia; a year earlier, the Finn won the 2007 F1 drivers title in his debut season with the team, however, it remains the last title they won.
